The Little Ham

Cade is a typical first born child. Very outgoing, never meets a stranger, LOVES to perform. He is currently obsessed with the song "Deep and Wide"... an old baptist kids worship song. For those who don't know it goes....
Deep and Wide
Deep and Wide
There's a fountain flowing Deep and Wide
Deep and Wide
Deep and Wide
There's a fountain flowing Deep and Wide

Not much to it. It also has hand motions as does any good kids song. Here is a video of Cade singing and counting and being an all around ham. You will notice in his counting that he goes from 14 to 20... oh well... we will work on that. Stay tuned for a video of his first memorized bible verse... "God is love". New post below.

Monday Monday

Today was a low key down around here. We did some grocery shopping and cleaned house. I know I have said it before, but I LOVE that Andy is off on Mondays. It helps me get ahead for the week and not have to use a weekend day to do it! We had another photo shoot with Ruthie today. Andy's sweet Aunt Janet and Uncle John have sent Ruthie several little presents including the bloomers and hat you see below!! I absolutely adore the hat! They also sent a daygown, but we have not worn it yet! :) Enjoy!

One Month Old

So, it has already been a month. Ruthie is such a sweet addition to our family. We are adjusting to the lack of sleep and all the pink. She is not on a consistent schedule yet during the day, but does well at night. Sleeps from 8 or 9 until 1 or 2 and then eats and sleeps until 4 or 5 and then down until 715 or so. We will deal with daytime naps later. She is starting to coo and interact with us, and Cade thinks that all of her noises are funny. We have gotten a few smiles, but they are not consistent yet. She does not love tummy time, but will tolerate it for a short period. She loves to ride in the car and be in her stroller. I guess the biggest thing we are dealing with now is reflux. I hear it is common, so I am not overly concerned, but she seems to have a pretty good case of it. This is new territory for us because Cade never had much trouble with stomach issues. I hate it for her, because she is not totally content and there is really nothing we can do. As I type this she is currently asleep in her vibrating chair on the dryer. Ha... desperate times call for desperate measures. We are headed to the doctor tomorrow and will gladly take his prescription for prevacid!! I know that this to shall pass...
We are so grateful to have a healthy, beautiful little girl. Looking forward to all that next month will bring...

Three Weeks Old

I promise not to say it every week, but wow, time flies. We have turned the corner (I think), and are starting to feel like we have a general idea of life as a family of four. It requires good planning and preparation, and much patience. :) Ruthie is a great baby. She seems to be falling into a little routine which is nice. She eats twice at night, but goes right back down, so that is bearable. She takes a super long nap in the afternoon and for now that has coincided with Cade's so that makes me happy. She is very alert in the mornings, which means that if I want us to get out the door before 11, I have to start early. She is much stronger than Cade was at this age. She has great head control, and during tummy time the other night, she rolled over twice. Andy and I thought this was hilarious since we knew it was just a fluke, but Cade was a weakling at this age. ;) I am sure she won't be stronger than him for long. We went to her two week check-up and she was up over her birthweight at 8 pounds 6 ozs (50 %) her height was 21 1/2 inches (97%) and her head circumference was 14 (50%). As you can tell from the pictures below, no one will ever have a head like Cade's. I was pleased with her weight because she dropped to 7 pounds 8 ounces the day we left the hospital and was up to 8'6 exactly 2 weeks later. So she is gaining weight well. That is always nice for a nursing mama to hear.
I love Monday's because Andy is off work. So, my goal is each Monday to make him take pictures of the kids. I am worried that we won't have an even amount of pictures since we have about 1 million of Cade. I am enjoying putting her in all of her outfits. She has so many that I am having to change her several times a day. Oh well, the life of a girl. Here are some pictures from our photo shoot today!Semi-new post below!

Don't tell DHR- we didn't let him drive her!

Cademan

Here are some recent pictures of Cade!!! He is all boy and we are loving him more each day. He is so bright, loves to play with "bi trucks and cars", and rough around with Daddy. He eats most everything, and LOVES some apple juice. He is learning new things everyday and is like a little parrot repeating everything we say. Last night, he did not want to get his hands and mouth wiped after dinner and was pulling away and before I could say it... he shook his finger and said "stop it, Cade". I guess he has heard that before. Oh well, I pray he will be self aware, guess it is working. Enjoy!

Big Brother

Here are a few pictures of Cade. You will notice he is in his pjs for them all!! We have been lazy around here lately. You may also notice the paci, which has shown its face a little more frequently! Cade is so sweet to Ruthie, he is a great big brother!

Two Weeks Old

It has been a whirlwind around here. I think we have turned the chaotic corner and are finally settling in to our new normal. Cade has really adjusted well. He loves his baby sister and insists on knowing where she is at all times. Ruthie is really a very mellow baby. When she cries, we are usually able to ascertain what the problem is quickly, which is nice. She wakes up twice at night, but thankfully, she goes back down after eating. Here are a few pictures of her on her two week birthday. Excuse our little storkbite... it will fade with time. :) She has had her first tub bath and first few outings these past couple of weeks. I promise to do a blog about Cade next!!!:)
